Explore how positive and culturally responsive family engagement improves student attendance and identify key strategies to strengthen family partnerships. Apply tiered intervention strategies tailored to staff responsibilities and student/family needs. Examine how to build and align attendance systems within an MTSS framework to ensure proactive, relationship-centered, and school-wide support for student attendance.

Participants will learn how avoidance coping is reinforced in the school setting, making students more vulnerable to school refusal behavior. Participants will learn concrete strategies in the classroom that can help promote active self-regulation. Participants will learn how to utilize school counselors and other behavioral experts to help develop these practices within a school setting.
