Conference: Creating Safe and Supportive Environments for LGBTQ Students

Participants will be able to sharpen their racial analysis and deepen their understanding of implicit/explicit biases and microaggressions. Participants will be introduced to how a work lifecycle of microaggressions can impact the trajectory of marginalized populations within the school community. Participants will be provided with the tools and language to access resources to begin building a sustainable culture of belonging and connection.

Learns ways that schools can promote inclusivity and safety for LGBTQ+ students. Learn ways schools can work with parents and caregivers to help them understand how to best support their LGBTQ student, providing a bridge between youth and their families. Learn ways schools can address how racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, poverty and disability intersect, and how systems of belief form around groups. Schools can work to dismantle bias and focus on creating equitable spaces for all people.
