Conferences: Navigating Loss and Trauma in Schools ;

System Builders: Cultivating School-Based Mental Health Leadership

Participants will identify three examples of interventions to use at an individual, classroom and whole school level. They will define trauma and loss and explore the historical context and they will explore how trauma and loss impacts children and youth at different developmental stages and learning.

Participants will learn why clinical leadership within a school setting is a key lever for promoting prevention and enabling access to treatment for mental health needs. They will learn how to cultivate clinical leaders capable of building systemic approaches to school mental health. Participants will also learn effective strategies for building an infrastructure that supports the development of a mental health system, including by assembling a trusting and committed team within a school or district.
