Along with the importance of physical set up, how we create a sense of community with and between our students is crucial to building an environment that supports the learning of all students. This includes the way we speak to students as individuals, how we approach the group as a whole, and how we support our kids through their interactions with each other. This workshop will explore concepts such as growth mindset, self-talk, affirmations, and perspective taking. We will identify strategies that can be utilized in the classroom to build community and create a safe environment that promotes academic risk taking and student growth.
