Collaborations across disciplines is an integral part of the work of multidisciplinary teams. Behavioral health providers and law enforcement partners work closely to address complex clinical needs while mitigating risk and threat. HIPAA and other information sharing guidelines impact this work, but do not hinder its ability to take place. Other legislative changes, like police reform, have shifted the information sharing process and brought renewed attention to these partnerships, including focused attention on schools. This presentation examines some of the historical context for these disciplines, their joint collaborations, professional guidelines, best practices, and current changes to the landscape of behavioral health crisis services in the Commonwealth.
