DESCRIPTION

Student safety is of paramount concern to school administrators, staff, and parents. At this year’s school safety summit, participants will examine issues surrounding school safety from multiple perspectives. Massachusetts State Police Colonel Christopher Mason and Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth (MPY) Executive Director, Margie Daniels, will introduce the conference and frame the issues presented. Michele Gay, mother, educator and co-founder of Safe and Sound Schools, will present a parents’ perspective. Ms. Gay chose to act after losing her daughter, Josephine Grace, at the massacre on December 14, 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Since that time, Ms. Gay has focused her efforts on advocating for safety and security in schools and communities across the country.
