Building Resiliency, Compassion and Leadership as an Antidote to Anxiety and Stress

Building Resiliency, Compassion and Leadership as an
Antidote to Anxiety and Stress

The goal of this conference is to give participants strategies to build and promote resilient and compassionate cultures in schools. Burlington Superintendent Dr. Eric Conti, a self-proclaimed skeptic of mindfulness, will explain why and how he is supporting a mindful school culture which started from a grassroots staff-driven initiative. Due to a changing society of increased technology, social media pressure, and mental health issues, mindfulness techniques and practices help school staff respond to students and build an infrastructure that promotes well-being and awareness.

Experienced mindfulness practitioners will speak about how building resiliency helps students and staff confront the challenges we are all facing and how to adapt to stress and anxiety. They will highlight both the successes and challenges of implementing mindfulness-based practices in schools. All participants will also have the opportunity to engage in mindfulness practices during the day.

PDPs and CEUs
PDPs are offered for all MPY professional development conferences. PDPs are issued for minimum of 10 hours through attending two conferences. In order to facilitate awarding PDPs, we will be issuing PDPs under the heading of Mental Health and Safety Conferences. Any combination of conferences an individual attends will be used to accumulate PDPs. They will not have to be linked, as previously required.
PDPs certificates will be issued at the end of the school year for all MPY conferences an individual attends during this school year. PDPs can only be issued to participants who have attended the conferences and submitted the appropriate paperwork. PDP certificates will be emailed to attendees.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for clinical staff, upon approval from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association, Inc. (MaMHCA). Approval is granted by the NASW and MaMHCA separately for each conference. Conference participants may request CEUs by filling out the appropriate paperwork at MPY conferences. CEUs are given at Mental Health Series conferences in a minimum of 5 hours. They do not need to be combined with other conferences.
