Comprehensive School Mental Health Systems: Establishing Systems and Practices to Support Quality Services and Sustainability: Session 2

Description: Participants will be engaged in work to develop systems, practices, and policies to support the establishment of a comprehensive school mental health system (CSMHS). Focus topics will include: establishing a school mental health team to support district- or school-wide implementation; conducting a needs assessment and resource mapping using the SHAPE System to support action planning and implementation; supporting quality and sustainable implementation through the design of plan-do-study-act cycles; supporting staff readiness and creating a professional development plan; monitoring the fidelity of implementation of mental health services and supports across all tiers; engaging stakeholders, including families and students, in the design and implementation of the CSMHS; generating buy-in to support implementation; securing funding and resources to support the CSMHS; engaging in marketing and promotion to support sustainability; and leveraging partnerships with outside mental health agencies and university partners to support the CSMHS. Presentations will be accompanied by the provision of resources and engagement in activities to foster and support implementation.  

Attendees must register for and participate in all 5 one-hour webinar sessions. A code will given out during each session for accountability purposes. Please hold onto all 5 codes- you will enter them into the PDP/CEU forms. Forms must be completed after the 5th session. PDP/CEU forms are available on the page of the 5th session. You will receive your certificates at the end of the 2020-2021 school year. 


Membership Information

Most MPY webinars are available to ONLY current employees of member districts and organizations. Public school memberships include police and fire personnel. Former and retired employees, members of committees including but not limited to PTO/PTA, PAC, School Improvement Councils, Health Councils, Drug/Alcohol Councils and school volunteers are not considered MPY members.

PDPs and CEUs
PDPs are offered for all MPY professional development webinars. PDPs are issued for a minimum of 10 hours. Any combination of webinars an individual attends will be used to accumulate PDPs. 
PDPs certificates will be issued at the end of the school year for all MPY webinars an individual attends during this school year. PDPs can only be issued to participants who have attended the webinars and submitted the appropriate paperwork. PDP certificates will be emailed to attendees at the end of the school year.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for clinical staff from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association, Inc. (MaMHCA). Approval is granted by the NASW and the MaMHCA for each event. Event participants may request CEUs by filling out the request form above.
