Description: In this interactive webinar, participants will be provided with tools and coaching to facilitate their ability to have honest and productive conversations about race with youth. Participants will learn strategies to help them manage any disempowering feelings (e.g., fear, frustration, anxiety, and inadequacy) that may arise when speaking to youth from different races about these issues. Participants will also learn techniques to diffuse emotionally charged situations in real-time and receive coaching support on current challenges they are experiencing in their efforts to facilitate conversations about race in their professional capacity.
Open to nonmembers for a $100 nonmember fee
Membership Information
Most MPY webinars are available to ONLY current employees of member districts and organizations. Public school memberships include police and fire personnel. Former and retired employees, members of committees including but not limited to PTO/PTA, PAC, School Improvement Councils, Health Councils, Drug/Alcohol Councils and school volunteers are not considered MPY members.
PDPs and CEUs
PDPs are offered for all MPY professional development webinars. PDPs are issued for a minimum of 10 hours. Any combination of webinars an individual attends will be used to accumulate PDPs.
PDPs certificates will be issued at the end of the school year for all MPY webinars an individual attends during this school year. PDPs can only be issued to participants who have attended the webinars and submitted the appropriate paperwork. PDP certificates will be emailed to attendees at the end of the school year.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for clinical staff from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association, Inc. (MaMHCA). Approval is granted by the NASW and the MaMHCA for each event. Event participants may request CEUs by filling out the request form above.
