2 Hour Webinar: Using Online Safety Education in Preventing Hate and Extremism

Description: This webinar will overview online safety education and the ways it can play a role in impacting issues related to hate and extremism. In exploring existing research about the intersection between hate and extremism with the internet, this will lay the groundwork to examine the strategies, knowledge, and skills ultimately aimed to help keep youth safer online. Lastly, this webinar will look into specific elements of lessons and workshops that have shown an impact in youths' ability to recognize risks when online.

Membership Information

Most MPY webinars are available to ONLY current employees of member districts and organizations. Public school memberships include police and fire personnel. Former and retired employees, members of committees including but not limited to PTO/PTA, PAC, School Improvement Councils, Health Councils, Drug/Alcohol Councils and school volunteers are not considered MPY members.

PDPs and CEUs
PDPs are offered for all MPY professional development webinars. PDPs are issued for a minimum of 10 hours. Any combination of webinars an individual attends will be used to accumulate PDPs. 
PDPs certificates will be issued at the end of the school year for all MPY webinars an individual attends during this school year. PDPs can only be issued to participants who have attended the webinars and submitted the appropriate paperwork. PDP certificates will be emailed to attendees at the end of the school year.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for clinical staff from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association, Inc. (MaMHCA). Approval is granted by the NASW and the MaMHCA for each event. Event participants may request CEUs by filling out the request form above.
