H.I.P. Educational Leadership: Leading with Happiness, Impact and Possibilities (HIP) Among Special Educators and Leaders

In this webinar, educators and leaders, especially those in the special education field, will learn how to lead schools and districts using strategies that are practical and meaningful. These simple strategies are broken down into three pillars of education leadership: leading with happiness, leading with impact, and leading with possibilities. This overview course is part of a program that Alpha Sanford has developed for educators and leaders who are seeking purpose and enlightenment in their educational careers.
About the Speaker
Alpha Sanford is a Filipino-American school leader. She is currently the Director of Special Education and Student Services at the Randolph Public Schools. Alpha has served as a Pre-K-12 special education teacher, Department Chair, High School Assistant Principal and District Special Education Administrator; in each role she focused on educational equity and inclusive education for all students, and the school administrators who work with her, realize their leadership contribution in the delivery of equitable educational services. She brings creative perspectives and solutions of public school leadership and management by drawing from her experiences as an immigrant and from her public education experiences from the Philippines. Alpha graduated magna cum laude in Secondary Education from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Needs from the Eastern Nazarene College and a CAGS in Educational Leadership and Administration from the American International College.
Alpha is interested in different mental models of consciousness that may impact leadership. In her spare time, you can find Alpha being an amateur writer, a gardener and a spirituality bookworm. She loves spending time with her husband and her daughter on the South Shore.

Most MPY webinars are available to ONLY current staff from member districts and organizations. Public school memberships include police and fire personnel. Former and retired employees and members of committees, including but not limited to, PTO/PTA, PAC, School Improvement Councils, Health Councils, Drug/Alcohol Councils, and school volunteers, are not considered MPY members.
PDPs and CEUs
MPY is an approved Professional Development Provider through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (F20180079 provider number). Professional Development Points (PDPs) are offered for all MPY professional development webinars. PDPs are issued for a minimum of 10 hours of training.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for clinical staff from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association, Inc. (MaMHCA). The NASW and the MaMHCA approves each event. Event participants may request CEUs by filling out the request form above.
Requests for PDPs and CEUs must be submitted within 8 days of the webinar. PDPs and CEUs will only be issued to participants who have attended the webinar(s) and submitted the appropriate paperwork within 8 days of the webinar, with accurate accountability codes.
PDP and CEU certificates will be emailed to attendees at the end of the school year.
