Speaker: Tyler Cote, Director of Education, Operation250
This presentation focuses on effective and ineffective strategies to develop online safety lesson plans. Tyler Cote will overview implementation strategies, integration methods, classroom materials, and potential activities to use in your classroom. Furthermore, the presentation will analyze some of the lessons learned in this space by the Operation250 team, who have had their online safety lesson plans in classrooms being rigorously evaluated in recent years.
About the Speaker
Tyler Cote is the co-Founder and Director of the nonprofit organization, Operation250. Tyler regularly collaborates with schools and organizations to develop in-class content, deliver student workshop programs, and consult on educators’ curriculum. Tyler has delivered online behavior and counter-hate workshops for students and educators in effort of preventing violence and threats facing youth today. During Tyler’s time as Director of the organization, he has served as a leader on multiple innovative projects, most notably his ongoing work on the National Institute of Justice funded research project to measure the effectiveness of Op250’s prevention efforts against pathways to extremism and hate. Tyler is a graduate of UMass Lowell in Political Science and Criminology. He was the recipient of the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education’s 29 Who Shine award, awarded to one graduate of each public university in the state who exemplifies exceptional promise as a future leader in Massachusetts. Tyler has testified before the United States Congress on his work with Op250. He has also published on the risks of youth exposure to online hate, unsafe internet behaviors by youth, and has been featured in UNESCO’s Youth-led Guide on Preventing Violent Extremism Through Education.

Most MPY webinars are available to ONLY current staff from member districts and organizations. Public school memberships include police and fire personnel. Former and retired employees and members of committees, including but not limited to, PTO/PTA, PAC, School Improvement Councils, Health Councils, Drug/Alcohol Councils, and school volunteers, are not considered MPY members.
PDPs and CEUs
MPY is an approved Professional Development Provider through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (F20180079 provider number). Professional Development Points (PDPs) are offered for all MPY professional development webinars. PDPs are issued for a minimum of 10 hours of training.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for clinical staff from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association, Inc. (MaMHCA). The NASW and the MaMHCA approves each event. Event participants may request CEUs by filling out the request form above.
Requests for PDPs and CEUs must be submitted within 8 days of the webinar. PDPs and CEUs will only be issued to participants who have attended the webinar(s) and submitted the appropriate paperwork within 8 days of the webinar, with accurate accountability codes.
PDP and CEU certificates will be emailed to attendees at the end of the school year.
