REMOTE WORKSHOP - (Re)focusing on Educational Equity During the Economic Crisis post-COVID-19

June 9th, 2020

10am-12pm

Speaker: Tracey A. Benson, Ed. L.D., Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Racial Equity Consultant, Author

Description:

The COVID-19 pandemic has once again exposed the rampant racial inequities in education, healthcare, and employment. During this pandemic we have witnessed historically marginalized populations losing jobs at the highest rates in recent history, dying at disproportionately higher rates of the rapidly spreading virus, and being excluded from mainstream education due to unresolved educational inequities. It is imperative that K-12 school and district leaders as well as leaders in higher education take into account the post-pandemic realities of many of our heavily impacted and already disenfranchised communities and put time, money, and resources toward more fully realizing educational equity for historically under-served communities.
