School Safety Summit - Fighting Hate and Homegrown Violent Extremism
Incidents of hate and violence from homegrown violent extremism have plagued schools and communities nationally. Ideologies such as Jihadism, Incel, Antifa, and Racially Motivated Extremists, such as White Nationals, contribute to actions which stigmatize, frighten, disrupt and threaten school and community members. Strategies to combat hate and violence will be presented, along with updated information about gun control measures.

Membership Information
Member rates for MPY events are available to current employees of member organizations. Public school memberships include police and fire personnel. Former and retired employees, members of committees including but not limited to PTO/PTA, PAC, School Improvement Councils, Health Councils, Drug/Alcohol Councils and school volunteers are not considered MPY members.
PDPs and CEUs
PDPs are offered for all MPY professional development conferences. PDPs are issued for a minimum of 10 hours through attending two conferences. In order to facilitate awarding PDPs, we will be issuing PDPs under the heading of Mental Health and Safety Conferences. Any combination of conferences an individual attends will be used to accumulate PDPs. They will not have to be linked, as previously required.
PDPs certificates will be issued at the end of the school year for all MPY conferences an individual attends during this school year. PDPs can only be issued to participants who have attended the conferences and submitted the appropriate paperwork. PDP certificates will be emailed to attendees.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for clinical staff, upon approval from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association, Inc. (MaMHCA). Approval is granted by the NASW and MaMHCA separately for each conference. Conference participants may request CEUs by filling out the appropriate paperwork at MPY conferences. CEUs are given at Mental Health Series conferences in a minimum of 5 hours. They do not need to be combined with other conferences.
Event Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend any MPY conference after registering, you must cancel online at least 72 hours prior to event. Failure to do so will result in a cancellation fee. Conference no shows are also charged a fee. For assistance call MPY at 781-587-3411.
Accessibility and Accommodations
All Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth conferences are handicapped accessible. Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth will work to make reasonable accommodations as requested by individuals with disabilities. Requests should be made at least 3 weeks before the event. Direct accommodation requests to Executive Director Margie Daniels at Margie@mpyinc.org.
