Session 2: April 7, 2022
Speakers: Waheeda Saif, LMHC, Program Coordinator, Trauma and Loss Counseling Service, Riverside Trauma Center
This training explores the toll that working with people who suffered trauma has on human service professionals through vicarious and direct exposures. We will discuss advances in trauma stewardship and toxic stress. Participants will be introduced to the framework of the 3Rs of Self-Care: Reflection, Regulation, and Relaxation and presented with examples of safe and healthy coping strategies. Participants will be asked to reflect on their own understanding, history, and methods for coping, and to consider ways to address the barriers to engaging in self-care on personal, systemic, and societal levels, so that they may remain able to provide optimum levels of intervention. Note: This webinar is a repeat of the webinar offered on October 18 and November 22, 2021, and is open to new particpants only.
Attendees must register for and participate in both two-hour webinar sessions. A code will be given out during each session for accountability purposes. Please hold onto the codes- you will enter them into one PDP and/or CEU forms, which are available on the Request Forms page on MPY's website. Forms must be completed within 8 days of the 2nd session.
