Speaker: Jessica Pepple, Ed.S., MBA, Regional Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the tri-towns of Norfolk, Wrentham, and Plainville Public Schools

Webinar Description
Participants will be able to understand and identify how unconscious bias can affect educators’ perceptions of students; to explain how debiasing techniques work to counter-stereotypic imaging, promote individuation, perspective-taking, and opportunities for contact. Additionally, participants will be trained to identify and dismantle the different forms of systemic and interpersonal racism that are present in the school system.

About the Speaker
Jessica Pepple migrated from Orange County Public Schools, where she spent four years as the district instructional coach for the School Transformation Office, successfully creating a climate focused on student achievement in Central Florida, through designing data tracking tools, standards-based instruction, and curriculum for underperforming schools.

Jessica is currently the Founding Regional Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the tri-towns of Norfolk, Wrentham, and Plainville Public Schools, respectively, where she firmly believes that it is important to engage in rich conversations around antiracism and equity work with teachers and students to dismantle systemic racism and build allies for all students of color. Ms. Pepple currently holds an Ed.S in Educational Leadership, an MBA with a concentration in Human Resources, and she is currently a Doctoral Candidate for Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Boston University.

Membership Information
Most MPY webinars are available to ONLY current staff from member districts and organizations. Public school memberships include police and fire personnel. Former and retired employees and members of committees, including but not limited to, PTO/PTA, PAC, School Improvement Councils, Health Councils, Drug/Alcohol Councils, and school volunteers, are not considered MPY members.

PDPs and CEUs
MPY is an approved Professional Development Provider through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (F20180079 provider number). Professional Development Points (PDPs) are offered for all MPY professional development webinars. PDPs are issued for a minimum of 10 hours of training.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for clinical staff from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association, Inc. (MaMHCA). The NASW and the MaMHCA approves each event. Event participants may request CEUs by filling out the request form above. 

Requests for PDPs and CEUs must be submitted within 8 days of the webinar. PDPs and CEUs will only be issued to participants who have attended the webinar(s) and submitted the appropriate paperwork within 8 days of the webinar, with accurate accountability codes. 

PDP and CEU certificates will be emailed to attendees at the end of the school year.
