SpeakerS
Shannon K. Barry, Ph.D. and Catherine A. Rossi, Ph.D.
Description
The demand for career and technical education (CTE) is increasing statewide. The Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education within the US Department of Education has developed a framework for educators to guide how to define and teach these key employability skills across settings to students in preparation for life in the workforce. Many of these skills are directly aligned with social emotional learning and behavior support, thus allowing it to be a practical approach to support students’ overall wellbeing. This 5 part webinar will focus on an overview of the model, its importance, and systems and practices schools can implement to support students’ learning of such skills. Each of the framework’s three strands will be reviewed in detail and attendees will hear from staff working in both career/technical and traditional high schools on how they incorporate these ideas into their daily lessons and routines and overall systems and structures. The majority of the sessions will be geared towards supporting all students, and the final session will focus specifically on students with disabilities.
To receive PDPs and CEUs, participants must attend all 5 sessions and successfully pass a quiz following Session 5. Within 24 hours of the live webinar, registrants will be emailed a link to view the recorded webinar. The recording will be made available for 7 days after each session.
