Description
Student re-entry is a particularly anxiety-provoking and overwhelming time for high-risk students returning to school after hospitalization. There are many parties who need support: primarily the student, but also parents, peers, teachers, and others involved in the individual’s life.
Using best practices and a trauma-informed lens, this training will review the core elements and key considerations in planning for student re-entry as well as review collaborative suicide safety planning, common challenges engaging caregivers, and foundational principles of suicide prevention.
After this training, attendees will be able to:
- Apply trauma-informed practices to build safe and collaborative re-entry plans for students
- Review safety plans with students and families / caregivers as a collaborative step toward suicide prevention
- Engage faculty and staff in suicide awareness and prevention best practices
