Description
This program will offer practical recommendations for how you can take your supervisory skills to the next level. Dr. Maeve Donnelly, Director of Supervision at Northeastern University, will review the current supervision guidelines while Lisa Gurdin, Supervisor of Intensive Practicum at Northeastern University, will suggest strategies for teaching ABA students and newly certified BCBAs how to practice compassionate, collaborative, person-center ABA in the school and home settings. Ms. Gurdin will also talk about the importance of integrating fluency practice with real-life applications of ABA.
About the SpeakerS
Dr. Maeve Donnelly serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Applied Behavior Analysis programs and is the Director of Supervision at Northeastern University. She is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D) and a Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst (LABA), as well as a Licensed Special Education Administrator (All levels; MA). Dr. Donnelly is also qualified to serve as a BACB® Supervisor. She has 20 years of clinical and applied research experience with children and young adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities, including assessment and treatment of severe problem behavior. Dr. Donnelly has supervised and worked within multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive services for her students and clients across public and private educational settings as well as in homes and local communities.
For over 20 years, Lisa Gurdin has been working with students, families, and school-based professionals with students from preschool to age 22 with a range of special needs and complex profiles. Ms. Gurdin supports educational professionals through consultation, student evaluations, and staff training. She works collaboratively with parents and school professionals to facilitate integrated support across settings thereby maximizing behavior change and skill development. Ms. Gurdin also provides parent coaching to help parents implement behavioral strategies to improve behavior, encourage independence, and build stronger family relationships. Ms. Gurdin is a Part-Time Lecturer and supervisor in the Master’s in ABA Program and College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University.
