Description
In this CE event, participants will learn about the key components of effective supervision for Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) from three highly experienced supervisors. Panelists will provide strategies for promoting a positive supervisory relationship, using tools and resources to support the supervisory experience, and addressing challenging supervision situations. This workshop is designed for current BCBAs who supervise ABA students or RBTs or are interested in becoming supervisors. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a better understanding of how to provide high-quality supervision that supports the growth and success of their supervisees.
About the SpeakerS
Dr. Susan Ainsleigh, (she/her) is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D®) and a licensed special education teacher. Dr. Ainsleigh has practiced ABA in a wide range of settings, including public and private schools, early intervention programs, and adult service settings, for over 20 years. She has extensive experience establishing ABA programs in higher education settings, including the first BACB® approved course sequence in the Middle East. She has taught ABA at the graduate level and undergraduate level, in the United States and abroad, and regularly lectures at conferences worldwide, disseminating the science of ABA.
Kim Edwards, M.Ed., (she/her) is an educator in Washington, DC. Kim has worked in the field of education for more than 11 years. She received a Master of Education and Graduate certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis. Prior to moving to Washington, DC, Mrs. Edwards worked in Richmond, VA in private practice, therapeutic day programs and public schools. Her current work aligns with her interests in research, coaching staff on culturally responsive and impactful learning pathways; focus on equitable professional development; strategizing and developing school-wide anti-racism and effective school behavior practices.
For over 20 years, Lisa Gurdin, MS, BCBA, LABA (she/her) has been working with students, families, and school-based professionals with students from preschool to age 22 with a range of special needs and complex profiles. Ms. Gurdin supports educational professionals through consultation, student evaluations, and staff training. She works collaboratively with parents and school professionals to facilitate integrated supports across settings thereby maximizing behavior change and skill development. Ms. Gurdin also provides parent coaching to help parents implement behavioral strategies to improve behavior, encourage independence, and build stronger family relationships. Prior to starting her own private practice, she worked as the Clinical Coordinator for LABBB Collaborative in Massachusetts. In this role, she supervised a team of BCBAs, provided clinical oversight, managed home-based programming, consulted with school teams on complex cases in area school districts, conducted staff trainings, and provided ongoing consultation to classrooms across the collaborative. Ms. Gurdin is also a Part-Time Lecturer at Northeastern University. Before becoming an ACE Provider, she was the ACE Coordinator for the BCBA Roundtable at EDCO Collaborative in Massachusetts. As an ACE Provider, she coordinates and presents continuing education workshops for local school-based behavior analysts. When she is not working, she is taking care of her three children, ages 19, 17, and 13, and two dogs.
As the chief clinical officer at LEARN, Dr. Hanna Rue (she/her)oversees quality assurance, training, data systems, professional development, and clinical research. She brings to her role more than 20 years of work with individuals with developmental disabilities in home, school, clinic, and residential settings. Previously, Hanna held a joint position at May Institute as the vice president of Autism Services and the executive director of the National Autism Center, where she chaired the second phase of the National Standards Project. More recently, as part of a global team, she helped develop a standard set to define outcomes and measurement tools for treating autism spectrum disorder with the International Consortium of Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM). Hanna holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of North Dakota and maintains board certification as a behavior analyst.

Former and retired employees and members of committees, including but not limited to, PTO/PTA, PAC, School Improvement Councils, Health Councils, Drug/Alcohol Councils, and school volunteers, are not considered MPY members.
