WHAT:
Mass shootings and incidents of violence have profoundly affected schools across America, and a key part of preventing violence in school communities is a robust threat assessment process to identify potential threats and intervene.
This conference will focus on establishing and enhancing threat assessment teams as a vital tool for preventing targeted school violence. Another focus will be fostering a positive school climate built on a culture of safety, trust, respect and emotional support.
“Research shows that having an emotionally supportive school environment is a crucial component to preventing school violence. This important component of violence prevention is critically important to fostering school safety,” said Director Daniels. “We will also focus extensively on strategies and best practices for building and maintaining effective multi-disciplinary school threat assessment teams to identify threats and intervene before violence becomes part of the equation.”
